The first move after a fight.

Conflict4 min read

The morning after a fight is rigid. The silence in the kitchen is heavy, the movements are precise, and neither of you wants to be the first to break.

Generic advice tells you to "communicate." That's useless. You need actual sentences.

Walking in and saying "let's talk" feels like a summons to the principal's office. It raises defenses immediately. It demands an immediate, high-stakes conversation when you're both still raw.

Instead, try a low-stakes opening that acknowledges the tension without demanding an immediate resolution.

A 7am text that says "I'm still chewing on last night, want to grab coffee tonight?" lowers the temperature without pretending the fight didn't happen.

It does three things:

1. It admits the fight happened and is still on your mind.

2. It removes the immediate pressure to solve it right now over burnt toast.

3. It establishes a specific time and neutral location to re-engage.

You don't have to have the perfect apology ready. You just have to be the one who opens the door.

Goose helps you act on this.
